Ronin-inspired Dragons (sketch)

Description

Day 5--but the 4th entry--for BOS...turned up dragons (eggs included). Because it's not me without some sort of dragon drawing/AU of some sort. :lmao:

From top left to bottom left, clockwise:
  • Halo/Kourin (and also Sage) inspired: This one probably has more influence from my and a friend's headcanon of him and the guys than anything. First, the others look up to him as one who has more knowledge on how the armors work than the others due to the legacy being passed down through his family, and his (normally) calm and calculating persona that would make him a great leader. So I went for a sort of hybrid kirin/Chinese dragon inspiration for the whole sagely (eh? get it?) look and the traditional influences in his life. The egg is supposed to have a opalescent sheen to it a la the Chinese dragon eggs being mistaken for pearls.
  • Hardrock/Kongo inspired: I've had a bit of practice recently, thanks to an awesome video courtesy of Mark Crilley that finally made the "dragon look" click, and that very heavily figured with Kento's dragon. It's a very rocky/earthy type that probably spends most of its time underground (hence the smaller eyes and massive nose for burrowing), plus a hard shell
  • Strata/Tenku inspired: Definitely wanted to go with the bird-of-prey look that (actually, come to think of it) somewhat resembles the Message armor's vibe. Also decided halfway through a very low profile on the spines and horns would probably be more beneficial for streamline-ness through the air. (...You'd think, working in the field I do, I'd use a more technical term for that. But nope. XD) I figure the ones along the spine can probably lift and collapse based on the dragon's motion and airspeed.
  • Wildfire/Rekka inspired: Totally had Volvagia from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in my head on this one. Love This one was also the funniest (kinda) to finish because I started out with a standard front-curving nose horn...then suddenly decided "why not make it lava-like to go with the element, a la the egg?" ...I still think it turned out more like a unicorn horn. And I'm not so sure about the decision to add another nose horn just because the space was looking for it and I was looking to use more blue to balance out the flatness/lack of tricolored-ness like the other two had, buuuut there you have it.
  • Torrent/Suiko inspired: Of course went with a sea serpent for this one. This time, though, I actually found some refs to use! Sorta. Lol. I based the coloring and the head shape slightly off a black-banded sea krait, which was about as close as I could get to an actual sea snake that was maybe poisonous and was found off the waters of Japan (and other places in the Pacific). I guess. (I think my brain is slowly shutting down on me as I write this...joy. CURSE YOU!) Soyeah. Like the Strata dragon, the fins I figure can lift and lower for better maneuverability/stealth/etc. And yes, he is poisonous! Hence the pit on the nose. (Although that's probably more for land critters than water ones... >.>) And the egg is supposed to be like other watery creatures but...yeah. Probably didn't go into enough research on that either. It was kind of an on-a-whim addition that started a trend for all the others. Nod
And yes...yes, if I were smart and had realized it from the get-go, I probably would have actually taken more inspiration from the actual armors rather than just making elemental variants. But that would've been too smart, as we're fond of saying where I work. So I'll probably end up doing another round of these at some point, anyway.

I also considered posting them all separately. I might still do it later...but. HahaNO

I love dragons and I love RW/YST so this is a really cool thing to see! I like the attention to detail and elements!
